Shoe0nHead Style Inspiration!

I mentioned in my recent update that i’d be posting all of my fashion and beauty related content, here on my website. Don’t get me wrong, I love posting social commentary blogs but I also really enjoy fashion. So why not combine the two, for a cool series on my blog? And I thought, why not start off by showcasing some of the most bad ass women on YouTube & their unique fashion.

One of my favourite YouTubers is June Lapine AKA Shoe0nHead. She creates hilarious comedic skits and gives her opinion on several issues, including feminism, politics and SJW insanity.

She has a really likeable personality and seriously cute sense of style.

June’s look is very feminine and takes inspiration from kawaii fashion. She likes to mix hard and soft patterns to create a girly, yet bad ass sense of style, wearing leather chokers with floral/lace style dresses. Peterpan collared tops/dresses and Maryjane’s are also some of her style staples.

I love June’s style because she isn’t afraid to take risks and play around with fashion. Her style choices are just as ballsy and interesting as the words she shares in her YouTube videos.

Check out her instagram & YouTube channel for more style inspo & hilarious commentary.

Sasta Oíche Shamhna 2016!

Sasta Oíche Shamhna everybody! That means “Happy Halloween” in Irish by the way. I hope you’ve all had a great time, dressing up and celebrating. I had a blast this year, my family hosted a Halloween party in our home and we had loads of family and friends over to celebrate this ancient Celtic harvest festival.  On Saturday night, dressed up as Carrie and have also created a Purge outfit for tonight, on All Hallow’s Eve. (Keep a eye on my instagram later for photo updates!)

Needless to say, most people had no clue who Carrie was, but I had a great time putting this together. Honestly, I used things from around the house and did it all in one day practically. So, I think it turned out well overall! Carrie is one of my favourite films of all time (the recent remake is awful by the way, don’t watch it!) and I love dressing up as scary characters for Halloween. It just makes it a lot more festive and fun! I was terrified that the fake blood wouldn’t come off my skin later that night, but thankfully some washing-up liquid and water did the trick. *Phew!*

Here are some photos from the party!

Some photobooth fun with my Aunt!

We we’re the only two people dressed up in full costume haha!

So much socializing going on in this photo!

Happy Halloween 2016!

Until next year, stay spooky!

A little update.

Hello lovely reader,

It’s been a while. The last written blog I posted on here was published in July and I wanted to write this post, to explain to you where I have been and why I have been neglecting my blog over the past few months. Honestly, a lot has been going on. I have had a lot of setbacks and a some little victories, but most of all I have been trying to find my footing in the blogging world.

As some of you know, I have recently changed the direction of my YouTube channel. I started making videos where I give my social commentary on issues that are going on in the world. I have always been a very opinionated person and for a long time, I was feeling unhappy with the content that I posted on YouTube. If I am being totally candid here, I can admit to you that my channel wasn’t doing so well and I was no longer enjoying the content I was creating. It wasn’t enough for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love fashion and beauty but they are not the only topics I want to talk about anymore.

I needed to shake things up and I did. I’m glad I did.

My channel is doing much better now and I feel excited to make videos again. That is not to say that I won’t be posting beauty, hair or story-time related videos ever again. I will! I still do. My channel is going to be a mixed bag, it is going to be a mishmash of my interests, personality and life. I have also been thinking a lot about how I can keep my old and new audience happy, and I think I have discovered a way to do just that! I’m going to use my blog to house a large majority of my beauty reviews, hair posts and fashion blogs, etc.

In fact all of my content will be posted here on this site, my videos and my blogs. There are different categories on my blog (check the top, right-hand corner of my site) to choose from and it’ll be a one-stop-shop for all of my content to be viewed and (hopefully) enjoyed.

So if you only enjoy my social commentary or geeky related content you can find it easily. Or, you are a fan of my beauty, hair & fashion content, you can find all of it on one page, at the click of a button. It will be a fully fledged lifestyle blog and I really hope you enjoy it.

I hope that can become something different for everyone. A hub of advice, opinions and information. I’m currently working on some new blog posts and hope to get back on track with everything as soon as possible. I’m excited about it and I hope you will be too!

Stay tuned for new content and thanks for sticking around 🙂

Dr Organic Hemp Oil Restoring Hair & Scalp Treatment Review

As a lot of you may know, I really love the Dr Organic range. They are cruelty free and I am loyal to their Rose Otto range and have tried several other products from their company over the years. Recently, I came across the Dr Organic Hemp range and was so intrigued by the benefits these products claimed to have. Hemp oil is a popular natural remedy that is high in Omega fatty acids and has a similar make up to skin lipids and it acts naturally as a anti-inflammatory.

The Hemp Oil Restoring Hair & Scalp Treatment is a mousse based product that contains hemp oil and a mixture of bioactive, natural and organic ingredients. It’s list of impressive ingredients act to stimulate hair growth and help prevent hair loss, as well as treating the scalp to a little TLC.

I have been using this treatment for a few weeks now and I have noticed that when I went to get my roots bleached recently, they were almost twice as long as usual! I am not sure if that was totally down to this product but I believe it certainly helped. Usually after bleaching my roots, my scalp can be quite tender and sometimes can become a bit flaky. However, I believe this product helped calm my skin over time and allowed it to heal after the trauma of bleaching.

The mousse also adds body to my hair as it lifts my hair up slightly at the roots after I dry my hair. I feel as though the health of my hair has significantly improved since I started using this product as a part of my hair routine. My hair looks healthier at the root and feels stronger.

I use this product in conjunction with the Hemp Oil Rescue Shampoo & ConditionerI discovered that when using this treatment, less is more. If you use too much mousse on your scalp it can dry hard and create a crispy texture to your hair. I usually only use three pumps of the mousse at a time and massage it into my scalp before using a comb to distribute some of the product throughout the rest of my hair. Another thing worth mentioning is the smell, some people find the scent of hemp to be very pleasant and others not so much. Honestly, once the product dries I can no longer smell it at all. Overall, the product works well for me and I enjoy the result it gives.

Size & Price of Product:

This bottle is 150ml & costs €20.69

Pro’s of the Hemp Oil Restoring Hair & Scalp Treatment:

  • Quick & easy to use
  • Helps stimulate natural hair growth
  • Keeps scalp healthy and moisturized

Con’s of the Hemp Oil Restoring Hair & Scalp Treatment:

  • Not everyone is a fan of the scent of hemp products

Are Dr Organic products cruelty free?

They most certainly are 🙂

Where can I buy this product?

You can buy the Holland & Barrett stores nationwide.

Overall thoughts on the product:

This is a great product creates a no-fuss way to treat your scalp and stimulate hair growth.

The Virgin Suicides Inspired OOTD

This outfit of the day post is unique as it is inspired by one of my absolute favourite films/books of all time, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. The aesthetic of the film version has always fascinated me and director Sofia Coppola’s style is undeniably haunting and feminine all at once.

Under each photo is a quote that struck me while reading the book. The pages of The Virgin Suicides captivated me when I first read them and these words still take my breath away.

We felt the imprisonment of being a girl, the way it made your mind active and dreamy, and how you ended up knowing what colors went together.

Their desire was silent yet magnificent, like a thousand daisies attuning their faces toward the path of the sun.

We knew that the girls were really women in disguise, that they understood love, and even death, and that our job was merely to create the noise that seemed to fascinate them. We knew that they knew everything about us.

And that we couldn’t fathom them at all.

In the end we had pieces of the puzzle, but no matter how we put them together, gaps remained—oddly shaped emptiness mapped by what surrounded them.

Like countries we couldn’t name.

Heiress by Paris Hilton Review

Let me start off by letting you all know that I am a huge Paris Hilton fan and consider myself a Little Hilton. I have loved her since The Simple Life day’s and have collected many of her beauty products and merch over the years. One of my first purchases from the Paris Hilton brand was the Heiress perfume. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful packaging & feminine scent.

I recently repurchased Heiress and wanted to share my thoughts on this product. The first thing you notice when you open the packaging is how much it represents the Paris Hilton brand. The slip cover has a photo of Paris and the box is pink and black, with holographic pink writing.

The scent has top notes of passion fruit, orange, peach granita, and champagne mimosa . With middle notes consisting of star jasmine, tiare flower, ylang-ylang, honeysuckle, dewberry blossom, and grenadine. Then base notes of violet leaf, vetiver, tonka, and blonde woods. Every time I wear Heiress I get so many compliments and people always ask me what perfume I am wearing.

The bottle alone is a beautiful statement piece to showcase on your vanity counter, bathroom or bedroom. It was designed by the famous Henry de Monclin and the pretty pink holographic design reflects off the mirrors inside the bottle to create a beautiful display. Heiress may have been released ten years ago in 2006 but Paris has been busy producing nineteen more fragrances since, the latest being Gold Rush her 20th fragrance in twelve years. Loves it!

I would definitely recommend Heiress to people and would also recommend checking out the other fragrances Paris has to offer. They are not only beautiful and high in quality, they are also very affordable. My only complaint is that Paris Hilton perfumes are impossible to find in Ireland!

I bought Heiress on but you can also find her products on her site
