Haul: New Look, Tank Girl, Hair Dye & More!

On Thursday I spent the day in Dublin hanging out with my cousin Ciara. It was recently her birthday so we spent the day together to celebrate it. We went shopping around the city and had dinner in Bewley’s on Grafton Street. Every time I go there I always think of Courtney Love. When she used to study at Trinity College she used to go in there on her breaks and write song lyrics. They also do some really yummy pastas there which I love. On nom!

During the day I picked up a few random bits. I found these Tank Girl graphic novels in Chapters. They are usually very expensive so I was very surprised to get them at such a bargain price! If you have been wanted to read these then I suggest you get down to Chapters ASAP before they are all gone! You won’t find a better price anywhere else. Chapters if my favorite book shop in Dublin, I always find really good books there for excellent prices and it is one of the best places in the city to get books about the occult. Just FYI! :p

In Penny’s I picked up a few bits for when I move out soon. I picked up some cute tea towels and a wooden heart that had a cute floral pattern on it. I also picked up this Monsters University cup, it’s for kids obviously but I am such a huge fan of that film and of pixar in general. I had to buy it! It only cost me one euro so how could I say no! I also noticed that throughout the shops there was a trend happening that I wasn’t quite sure how to react to. A lot of the tops on sale where basketball jerseys with slogans printed on them and I even seen some Chicago Bulls tops on Forever 21. I guess the 90s are well and truly back!

After browsing through New Look I found these really awesome boots at the bargain price of 19 euros! They used to be 40 euros I nabbed them at sale price. They look really expensive and I really love the details in the straps and buckles. I really needed a new pair of boots so these showed up at the perfect time for me.

A lot of people have been asking me what dye I used to dye my hair purple. Currently I am using Special Effects in Wildflower and dilute it with hair conditioner before adding it to my hair. I bought a tub of Directions in Violet which I will use once the Special Effects dye runs out, I will also be diluting this. I am a loyal fan of directions, they are my “go to” company for colourful hair dye.

That evening we went to see The Book Thief in the cinema and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t already seen it. It is such a fantastic film but I will warn you, bring some tissues! There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when we saw it. I give it 9/10! GO SEE IT!

Thanks for reading. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Christmas Update & New Years Resolutions!

Yikes! So it has been a hot minute since I last wrote a personal blog. I have been so busy with Christmas celebrations and catching up with family and friends over the holidays that I have had hardly any time to sit down. Today has been the first day since Christmas that I have been able to log on to my laptop and finally write up this blog! In saying that, I hope you all had a good Christmas and are looking forward to the brand new year ahead!

Christmas Day I wore this green jumper from Dunnes Stores & this Elf hat I bought in a Euro shop! I was dressed pretty festive if I do say so myself! I was in the Chrsitmas spirit and I said “Fuck it!” why not dress like an Elf? haha.

These are the gifts that I got for Christmas off my friends & family. I was delighted! Truly spoiled. I love that everyone bought my Cruelty Free products, either unknown to themselves or otherwise! ^^ They all know me too well.

I have been thinking a lot about the New Year and I have mentally been planning out what it is I want to achieve from 2014. I must admit that I am not a huge lover of New Years Resolutions, even thought I always make those types of promises to myself every year! I guess I have a love/hate relationship with the idea of resolutions because most people never bother to even keep them through out the year and it can sometimes feel like a pointless exercise. For two years in a row now I have made New Years Resolution videos on my youtube channel and it is always good to look back on what I set out to do for the year and see if I was successful in accomplishing those goals.

I just re-watched my New Years Resolutions 2013 video and it really got me thinking. I don’t think we should feel bad if we DIDN’T achieve all we wanted to in one year.

Sometimes these goals are stepping stones and they are not the be all and end all. For example, most people’s goal in the new year is to get fit. The gym’s does be bursting in January, then nearing the end of the year they are almost completely deserted, you might even seen a tumbleweed float silently across the treadmills. But I honestly think, if by the end of the year your are staying active and doing your best to be a more healthy you, then you have kept your promise. In my opinion, it doesn’t have to be all about getting totally ripped, its’ about making an improvement and working towards a better you.

I think people get super hyped up about this “New Year, New You” mantra and go head first into these huge goals and get overwhelmed by it all. If you are going to set yourself a pretty hefty goal to reach for the new year, don’t freak yourself out form the get go. Plan! Set out small goals and step by step plans that will lead you to your ultimate goal. We are put under such pressure to achieve so much in so little time, sometimes your goal is going to take more than a year, it doesn’t mean it is not achievable, it just means you are going to have to be in it to win it for the long haul.

My resolutions are to stop being such a push over (seriously, I am a terrible push over!) and to say no when I want to say no, I basically always say yes to please people, thus making myself miserable. Also, I am planning on deactivating my person facebook page, as I find the site to be a terribly negative place most of the time and I don’t enjoy logging into it anymore. If I do end up keeping it or reactivating it, I will keep it very private. I will however, keep my “like” page and update it regularly with my video and blog posts. I want to use this website more for personal updates and make it the best blog it can be.

What are your goals for the year? Tweet me @EllieJayden on twitter and fill me in 🙂

Hope you had a Merry Christmas & have a Happy New Year!

See you in 2014!

Ellie. xoxo
