What is the best way to discover what the next big beauty trends are going to be? By looking at the backstage glam at some of the biggest fashion shows on the planet of course! Here’s a look at some of the best beauty looks to come from the Autumn/Winter fashion 2016 fashion shows.
Burberry – Glitter
Wendy Rowe, makeup artist at Burberry went for a glittery grunge inspired look by smudging kohl eyeliner into the lash line and then sprinkled glitter from the outer corners of the models’ eyes to create a beautifully haunting look. Then hairstylist Sam McKnight styled the model’s hair to look like it was slept-in/night before hair, using natural texture to create the messy glam look.
Alexander McQueen – Grunge
Lucia Pieroni created a soft focus effect on the models eyes by using a grey/black khol eyeliner, smudging the liner all the way from the outer corners to the inner corners to create a soft, grungey effect. Hairstylist Guido Palau added some glamour to the grungey look but adoring models messy up-do’s with jewelled hair clips and vintage style brooches.
Topshop Unique – 70s Rock Goddess
With makeup by Hannah Murray, models for Topshop sported heavy eyeliner and striking lips, in both bold magenta and nude lip colours. Anthony Turner styled the hair into soft, side-swept waves and Nancy Sinatra inspired curls. The entire look reminds me of Lana Del Rey! Love it.
Ralph Lauren – The ‘No Makeup’ Look
Ralph Lauren had a ‘no makeup’ look for A/W 2016, with their models wearing makeup that enchanced their natural beauty. This look focuses mainly on creating an even skin tone and long eyelashes. Guido Palau created loose, natural hairstyles to compliment the minimalist makeup.
Rodrate – Fairy Nymph
With makeup by James Kaliardos, Rodarte created a gothic inspired look, using deep burgundy shades on the lips and glowing, highlighted skin. Metallic eyeshadow was also used to create a mystical effect. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert styled the model’s hair in loose waves and chignons, he pinned in woven flowers and used metal headbands to complete the hauntingly beautiful looks.

This week Fashion design duo The Blonds, unveiled their Fall/Winter 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week. Designer Phillipe Blond and creative director David Blond put on a show to remember at Milk Studios in NYC. The breathtaking show was inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
And it wouldn’t be a Blonds show without insane bejeweled looks and unique hair!
“Imagine if Alice in Wonderland was directed by Tarantino or Gregg Araki,” said David Blond, creative director and one of half of The Blonds duo. Another important aspect of any Blonds show, is the nail art. The nails created for this particular fashion show, took 900 hours to create! “The nails are an integral part of our overall story,” Phillipe has said. With such emphisis on the nails, it is clear as to why the Blonds work with CND when putting together each collection.
Their stunning Fall 2016 collection consisted of dramatic jewel-encrusted corsets and eccentric gowns, sequin puffer jackets and pantsuits, and bedazzled over-sized sweatshirts. The models were styled with pink and white dreadlocks and matching, soft pastel eye make up, with a dramatic red lip. It’s safe to say the Blonds attention to styling and details is always impeccable!
The clothing and the show itself, remind me a lot of Gwen Stefani’s music video for her song What You Waiting For? Which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion. I really loved that entire era for Gwen and these outfits are right up my street in regards to style and taste. I love anything that is sparkly and a bit out there. I am always excited to see what The Blonds do next, their fashion shows take me to another world, inspire me to take more risks with my style & make me excited about fashion!
Last night Kanye West’s debut collection for Adidas sauntered down the runway at NYFW. The collection included nude inspired clothing such as body stockings, crop tops and swim caps?! The show was attended by a host of well known fashionistas and celebrities alike. Beyonce, Jay-Z and Anna Wintour were just a few of the A-list starts to be seated in the front row at the fashion show.
Personally, I am not in love with this collection. However, I did like Kim’s camouflage jacket!
What do you think of the collection, Kanye or Kan-nay?
That was a terrible joke, i’m sorry.
When fashion week rolls around each year, there is only one show I am GAGGING to see and that is The Blonds. I have always been inspired by the colours, the glitter and the imagination that emulates from The Blonds collections each year. There is something magical about the way Phillipe Blond & David Blond work together. It’s as if the goddesses themselves formed this unholy union of fierceness! Each year the due outdo themselves and their Spring/Summer 2015 show for New York Fashion week was some of their most innovative & impressive work yet.
One of the most exciting aspects of The Blonds S/S 2015 show was the beautifully long, braided hair. The hair inspiration was what i’d like to refer to as Ghetto Rapunzel! A mixture of Chola and Barbie elements to create a high fashion hair style, that only The Blonds could pull off with ease.
The Blonds clothing is always dream like and their shows make you feel like you are watching moving art work. In this S/S collection, the tartan fabric, sacred hearts and praying hands that featured on some of the clothing flowed beautifully with the jeweled embellishments, which are a trademark for The Blonds. The contrast between purity and hoochie is comical in that typical Blonds fashion, which gives a middle finger to the norm and makes fashion fun again.
The accessories featured in the show where fantastically gaudy, statement pieces that completed the looks perfectly. Chunky door knocker earrings and bold sparkling necklaces worn by the models glinted against the couture as they stomped down that runway.
The guests who attended The Blonds S/S 2015 fashion show were FAB!
Amanda Lepore, Jay Manuel, Paris Hilton & a host of other fashionistas and celebrities!
The Blonds sure know how to put on a fashion extravaganza! They never fail to impress me and make me yearn to own some of their amazing designs. Their clothing takes me to a place of mystery and possibilities. The Blonds are fashion pioneers who aren’t afraid to take risks, they laugh in the face of social norms and create beautiful illusions that excite and ignite imaginations across the world to be adventurous, fearless and fierce.
Yesterday at the Marc Jacobs fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015 at Park Avenue, Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid posed barefaced backstage for this picture. I think they look GORGEOUS! I really love the juxtaposition that Marc Jacobs created at NYFW by keeping his models faces clean and fresh, to show off their youthful skin. Head make up artist Francois Nars (founder and creative director of NARS Cosmetics) must have had the easiest job at fashion week!
Francois stated “The look for the show features no makeup, we only applied moisturizer.”
I love the fact that Marc Jacobs took the risk by using no make up on his models for the show. I think it makes a bold statement that you don’t need make up to look and feel beautiful.
But hey, lets face it. If anyone can look flawfree without make on, it’s Kendall & Gigi!
